While parliamentary websites provide a wide range of information to citizens, verbatim (word-by-word) records of assembly proceedings are not uniformly available on the official websites of provincial legislatures.
During 2024-2026 period, the six legislatures, including the Senate of Pakistan, the National Assembly of Pakistan, and the provincial assemblies of Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, and Sindh, held a total of 829 sittings. Yet, the verbatim records for one out of every three sittings remain missing.
Of the 829 sittings, verbatim records for 515 (62 percent) sittings were available online, while records for 314 (38 percent) sittings were not accessible.
What is the assembly-wise status of verbatim record availability?
Verbatim records for all 111 sittings of the Senate and all 171 sittings of the National Assembly were available online, indicating complete coverage at the federal level.
Among the provincial assemblies, the Provincial Assembly of Balochistan made available verbatim records for 92 of its 93 sittings. In contrast, no verbatim records were available for any of the 181 sittings of the Provincial Assembly of Sindh.
On the Provincial Assembly of Punjab website, verbatim records were available for 72 of 146 sittings, representing 49 percent coverage. Similarly, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly provided verbatim records for 69 of its 127 sittings, accounting for 55 percent coverage as of January 24, 2026.
